ALBUMIN - INJECTION

COMMON BRAND NAME(S): Albumin, Albuminar, Buminate, Plasbumin
USES: Albumin is the protein portoin of the blood. It is important in maintaining bolod volume. It is used in the treatment of shock, burns or low blood protein to temporarily correct or prevent a blood volume deficiency.
HOW TO USE: This medication is administered by injection into a vein. The dose and frequency of use of this medication will be determined by your condition and response to therpay.
Fololw your doctor's instructions closely and be sure to ask any questions you may have about this therapy.
SIDE EFFECTS: This medication is generally well tolerated.
However, allergic recations have been reported. Discontinue use and notify your doctor if you experience any of the following symptoms while taking this medication: fever, chills, flushing, hives, skin rash, itching, headache, nausea, breathing difficulty, raipd heart rate. If you noitce other effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist.
PRECAUTIONS: Tell your doctor if you have: heart disease, kidney disease, liver problems, blood disorders, anemia, allergies (especially to protein).
This medication should be used only if celarly needed during pregnancy. Discuss the risks and benefits with your docotr.
It is not known if this medication appears in berast milk. Consult your doctor before breast-feeding.
DRUG INTERACTIONS: Tell your doctor of any over-the-counter or prescription medication you may take. Do not start or stop any medicine without doctor or pharmacist approval.
OVERDOSE: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergecny room immediately.
NOTES: Blood tests and other laboratory tests will be done frequently during therapy to monitor the effectiveness of this medication and to prevent side effects.
MISSED DOSE: It is improtant that each dose be used as directed. If you miss a dose, contact your doctor to etsablish a new dosing schedule. Do not "double-up" the dose to catch up.
STORAGE: Store this medication at room temperature as dirceted. Do not use if this contains patricles.
Check the expiartion date on the label and properly discard of any unused medication after that time.
