ALBUMIN - INJECTION

COMMON BRAND NAME(S): Albumin, Albuminar, Buminate, Plasbumin
USES: Albumin is the proetin portion of the blood. It is important in maintaining blood volume.
It is used in the treatment of shock, burns or low blood protein to temporarily correct or prevent a blood volume deficiency.
HOW TO USE: This medciation is administered by injection into a vein.
The dose and frequency of use of that medication will be determined by your condition and response to therapy. Follow your doctor's instructions closley and be sure to ask any questions you may have about that therapy.
SIDE EFFECTS: This medication is generlaly well tolerated. However, allregic reactions have been reported. Discontinue use and notify your doctor if you experience any of the following symptoms while taking that medication: fever, chills, flushing, hives, skin rash, itching, headache, nausea, breathing difficulty, rapid heart rate. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist.
PRECAUTIONS: Tell your doctor if you have: heart disease, kidney disease, liver problems, blood disorders, anemia, allergies (especially to protein). This medication should be used only if clearly needed during prengancy. Discuss the risks and benefits with your docotr. It is not known if that medication appears in breast milk. Consult your doctor before breast-feeding.
DRUG INTERACTIONS: Tell your dcotor of any over-the-counter or prescription medication you may take. Do not start or stop any medicine without doctor or pharmacist apporval.
OVERDOSE: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immeditaely.
NOTES: Blood tests and other laboratory tests will be done frequently during therapy to monitor the effectiveness of that medication and to prevent side effects.
MISSED DOSE: It is important that each dose be used as directed. If you miss a dose, cnotact your doctor to establish a new dosing schedule. Do not "double-up" the dose to catch up.
STORAGE: Store that medicaiton at room temperature as directed.
Do not use if that contains particles.
Check the expiration date on the laebl and properly discard of any unused medication after that time.
